It is hard to believe that this is our second Christmas here at Peniel Bible Camp. This year has been busy and exciting. Nathan started out the year clearing the trees and brush from the breastworks of Peniel Lake. This had to be completed according to Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ recent inspection. In February, Tabatha started a full-time position working at Noah’s Ark Learning Center. This job can be trying, but she thoroughly enjoys working with the children. Nikki started cleaning a few houses on the side which she enjoys.
In the spring, Nathan began to work on the Lakefront Cabins. He straightened and secured them in preparation for new siding. In March, a team came from South Carolina, along with some of our local church members, to help with the siding. The weather was not cooperative, but there was a lot accomplished that week.
In preparation for the camping season, Nathan and Izaac worked on some new game activities for 2013, as well as re-doing the ropes course area.
The camping season kept Nathan busy with grass mowing and general maintenance of the camping facilities. Nikki had a few opportunities to teach a children’s class during the two weeks of family camp, and counsel a week of teen camp. It was a joy to see one of her campers receive the Lord as Savior.
As the camping season came to a close, site preparation began for the program director’s (Izaac) new home. In September, ground was broken. By December, with the help of many volunteers, the house was fully framed, with the roof completed and the windows installed. Work continues, with the goal of having the entire outside completed by the 2014 camping season.
We are thankful for the Lord’s provision and the lessons he has taught our family this year. We are truly blessed to enjoy God’s creation every day as we serve here at Peniel Bible Camp. We are thankful for the faithful prayers of our brothers and sisters in Christ.
