Prayer Items from the Fall OBF Conference

The fall conference of the Ohio Bible Fellowship met October 10-11 at Calvary Baptist Church in Willard and Bucyrus Bible Church. Four members gave excellent expositions from Scripture, revolving around the theme of personal holiness.

During these quarterly conferences two sessions devoted to prayer. Praises and prayer requests are given. Here are some items for prayer so that you can continue to pray for the Lord’s work here in Ohio—

Greencastle Bible Church praises the Lord for a new associate pastor, Joel McAllister. He will be moving the rest of his family’s belongings from Greenville, SC this week. Pray for safety. The McAllister’s praise the Lord that they were able to buy a home. Pray for them as they enter this ministry.

Pastor Marvin Gassman (Morrow Bible Church) praises the Lord that his wife Bev did not need back surgery. Prayer is requested for this coming Sunday’s vote to call current assistant pastor Steven Howard to the senior pastor position.

Orwell Bible Church is working to have their land annexed into the Orwell village. Pray also for several unsaved individuals who are regularly coming to services and being ministered to.

Long time OBF member Graydon Cox has been diagnosed with terminal liver cancer. Pray for he and his wife Dorothy to rest in God’s sustaining grace. The Cox’s were involved in many church plants in Ohio, teaching at the Bible Institute of Ohio, and editing and writing in the Ohio Bible Fellowship Visitor.

Peniel Bible Camp is working to finish the program director’s house. Special needs are skilled laborers for finishing drywall and constructing the fireplace and chimney. $13,000 more is needed to complete the house. You can read specifics and see pictures here.

Pray for Bible Community Church of Mentor as missionary and OBF member Mike Goldfuss serves as interim pastor. Pray for wisdom and unity among the church during this time, and the Lord to provide a new pastor.

Nathaniel Pringle, pastor of Eastside Community Bible Church, praised the Lord for the start up of a new effort to make contacts in their area through Monday coffee breaks. This will run through the month of October.

New OBF member Andy Rupert (from Orwell Bible Church) is conducting a Sunday evening Bible study in his home for area children.

Pastor John Howard of Middlefield Bible Church praised the Lord for contacts as a result of their evangelistic efforts. Pray for the rapid spread of the Word and for spiritual growth among believers.

Here is a roundup of news from some Ohio Bible Fellowship churches for prayer and encouragement—

Bible Community Church, Mentor, OH

  • Pray for us as we seek to calm down some programs and just try to sit at Jesus’ feet together and listen.  Things are busy, but we need to soak where soaking is needed.
  • Pray for interim pastor Mike Goldfuss to have wisdom as to what to preach.
  • Pray for the pulpit committee to have wisdom in choosing the next pastor of BCC.
  • Pray for us to have a desire to learn Christ better and deeper.
  • In our SS hour, we are doing a study on the “50 fruits of pride.” We have seen 12 in 4 weeks.  From comments that I’ve heard, we are touching things where we need to recognize our pride, confess it, look to Christ for His strength, and practice humility.  Someone asked if they get an A if they find all 50 in their life.  🙂

Greencastle Bible Church, Pastors Charles Flesher, Paul Martin, and Joel McAllister

  • October 19 will be “Protect and Serve” Sunday
  • During the evening service of October 26 we will have a special service welcoming Joel McAllister and his family

Westerville Bible Church, Pastors Paul Hamilton and Mark Perry

  • Continuing praying for outreach efforts, including the mentoring ministry on Thursdays
  • We concluded our annual missions conference last week, with the Mike Goldfuss and Joe Nicholson families. Sermons are available here.

News from OBF Churches, February 11, 2014

Here is this week’s roundup of news from some Ohio Bible Fellowship churches for prayer and encouragement—

Eastside Community Bible Church, Cincinnati, Pastor Nathaniel Pringle

  • We will be signing the lease this week. Pray that we will be able to finish the work necessary to occupy it in an efficient manner.
  • $300 of the needed $3000 for the chairs has come in. Email Pastor Pringle for more information.
  • Thankful for a good congregation even with a decent snow falling Sunday morning.

Fayette Bible Church, Pastor Tony Garren

  • Our gym is almost completed the first phase. We are working on the restrooms and hopefully get those completed by the end of March. Second phase is the platform and locker rooms. Re-enrollment begins for next school year; please pray for students.
  • The church has lost a dear saint, Dr. Thomas J Hancock passed away last week. He was a charter member and a wonderful inspiration for all who knew him.
  • We are also starting an adopt-a-missionary program for our members so that we can do a better job keeping up with the missionaries that we support.

Greencastle Bible Church, Pastors Charles Flesher and Paul Martin

  • Linda Flesher went to be with the Lord last Thursday. Her memorial service is this coming Saturday, February 15 at Greencastle. Visitation is at 9 A.M. and the service at 10:45.
  • This coming Sunday night, February 16, we will have our annual Winter Banquet during the evening service.

Morrow Bible Church, Pastors Marvin Gassman and Stephen Howard

  • Our annual Adult Banquet will be Saturday, February 22, with Pastor Steve Spence from Grace Bible Church in Avella, PA preaching.
  • We will have evangelistic meetings next month with Mark Kittrell preaching. Pastor Kittrell will speak at a Men’s Fellowship (to be held at Der Dutchman Restaurant, Bellville) and at a youth activity on Saturday, March 15th. Special services will be Sunday-Wednesday, March 16-19. Pray that we would be diligent in inviting lost people to the meetings, that there would be lost people present at the meetings, and that the Lord would use Mark Kittrell’s ministry in our church.

Pray for these pastors and churches, that the Lord would encourage them, build them up, and glorify Himself through them—
